Increase your brain power.

A friend just sent this to me (thanks, Pat!)…

The following are twelve foods essential for brain health
recommended by Dr. Daniel Amen on his PBS special “Change Your
Brain, Change Your Life
“:

Avocados, blueberries, broccoli, green tea, oatmeal, oranges,
red peppers, spinach, tuna, turkey, walnuts, and salmon

Happy eating!

P.S.  Here’s a quote on focus that really impacted me and
others I partner with this week from internet business coach
Rich Schefren:

“Focus , more than discipline, willpower, and even intelligence,
will determine how successful you’ll be. Period.”

Great reminder for all areas of our life!

Be Clear On What You Want.

In this day and age with so much information coming at us, so
much calling for our attention daily, it’s important that we
become really clear about what we want.

As I’m reviewing a new life mastery product about to be
released, I was reminded of how significant taking a few moments
at the end of our day to set our intentions and our course for
the next day before we fall asleep can reap great benefits in
living an intentional life…

…and as we experience life and become clear on what we want,
we can always re-adjust and set new intentions for the next day…

I remember very vividly one Saturday night in the past year when
I got engrossed in a dishwasher repair project and then became
frustrated that I “gave away” an evening with my kids…but rather
than staying in “feeling bad”, I set the intention to be very
present to my family the next day, and we had a wonderful day…

…probably much more wonderful than if my intention had not been
so crystal clear after experiencing what I “didn’t want” the night
before!

So practice this:  getting clear on what you want…

…and take a few moments at the end of each day to set your
intentions for the next day.

P.S. A very powerful tool for staying focused on what you want,
and easily generating the feelings that can draw it to you
almost “magically”, is Ryan Higgin’s Mind Movie Creation Kit.

Enjoy!

Are Things Really The Way You “See” Them?

What if the “reality” you see isn’t as “true” as you think it
is?

Perhaps it’s the reality of your health, or what doctors have
told you about your health, or what you’ve seen in the news
and in those around you…

Or perhaps it’s your finances, the economy, and again what you’re
“seeing” around you.

And then you bump into someone who has great health or great
finances or a great outlook on something that doesn’t look so
good to you, and you wonder, “what planet are they on?”

Well, today I have a suggestion, and a fun puzzle that will
anchor what I’m talking about.

The suggestion is that when you next meet someone or learn about
someone who has a “good” experience with something that you’d like
to have, too, but currently aren’t (e.g., a good experience of a
particular person, or of their own health, or of their finances
or business or of the economy…) how about releasing some of your
own tight hold on the “reality” you see, and being willing to
suspend your disbelief for a few moments—–long enough to consider
seeing things a different way, and even to adopt the belief, or
way of seeing things, that the person has who has the results or
experience you want…at least long enough to start to “see” and
experience things differently, too?

A little too abstract?

Think about this for a moment in terms of one or more areas of
your life that you’d like to be different.

How attached are you to your current way of seeing things?

Now click below to see an amazing “puzzle” that illustrates how
much our brain is conditioned to “see” in certain ways, based on
what we’re comparing to…or paying attention to…

(Personal confession:  in the puzzle you’re about to see, I
actually had to print out the chessboard and cut out the actual
squares and hold them together before I could “see” the “truth”!)

Here’s the puzzle (click here).

Let me know your own experience of “seeing” differently and what
helped you shift your perspective on something that was important
to you in the comments below.

To a prosperous and joyful 2009 for you,

Celebrate the Good

Just a quick but powerful thought for you as we near the end
of a year, a special time of celebration and remembrance, and
the beginning of a new year:

Celebrate the good.

Many will be celebrating tonight and tomorrow a very special
night and morning in history, and it’s often the stories we
tell that shape our own lives.

What story are you telling for 2008?

How about taking some time today and over the next several days
to “celebrate the good”?

Celebrate how you’ve been met this past year…

Look for, remember, and celebrate the good…

You may be surprised to find the floodgates of well-being opening
to you, and a shift in the story you tell as you enter 2009.

Have a blessed Christmas and wonderful Holiday and New Year!

Dr.  Ben
